Carrington Shepherd is an Associate Professor (PhD, Curtin University) at Curtin University with appointments at the Telethon Kids Institute, Murdoch University and the University of WA. He co-leads the Indigenous Health Research program in the Curtin Medical School, which includes a range of epidemiological, qualitative and mixed methods studies on critical issues impacting on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health—with a particular focus on perinatal health. The program is guided by community Elders and senior Aboriginal research partners and aims to bridge the knowledge gap on social inequalities in Aboriginal health in Australia. His collaborative networks include the Centre of Research Excellence in Stillbirth, Red Nose and the Australian Stillbirth Awareness & Prevention (ASAP) Collaborative—which brings together Parents, Educators, Awareness Advocates and Researchers with a passionate interest in reducing preventable stillbirths.
